New research performed by Rush University Medical Center in Chicago studied patients diagnosed with clinical depression and found that “belief in a concerned God can improve response to medical treatment.” This new research will be published in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Clinical Psychology.
This research adds further evidence to earlier research conducted last year by University of Toronto psychologists who reported that “believing in God can help block anxiety and minimize stress.”
The University of Toronto research showcased distinct brain differences between believers and non-believers, and reported “We found that religious people or even people who simply believe in the existence of God show significantly less brain activity in relation to their own errors.”
